Worcester County resident Scott Jameson, age 46, of Sutton, faces decades in prison after he pleaded guilty in federal court to illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place and one count of transportation of child pornography, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said.
Action Pour Les Enfants, a Cambodian child-protection group, contacted US federal investigators in February 2022 to allege that Jameson had engaged in inappropriate behavior with minors in that country, the prosecutor said.
The group alleged someone saw him acting improperly with a boy at a park. Several boys also reported to the group that Jameson slept with them in bed on multiple occasions, but they didn't note any sexual contact, federal officials said.
He returned to Cambodia later that year. When he returned to the United States, Customs agents at Boston Logan International Airport searched his bags and found a video that featured a young boy's genitals and a hard drive with more than 100 images of child sexual abuse material, the prosecutor said.
Jameson was a popular children's entertainer across New England and performed at area schools, libraries, parks, and kid's parties, his now-defunct website said.
But he also spent months in other countries working with young children over several years, according to his now-deleted blog.
Jameson faces up to 50 years in prison, though it's unlikely he'll receive the maximum sentence. A federal judge will sentence him on March 7.
